Project Showcase: Outdoor Employee Lounge for TÜV Rheinland (Suzhou)
Project Overview
For the TÜV Rheinland factory in Suzhou, Sunrim was commissioned to design and install a premium outdoor leisure space on the facility’s terrace. As a global leader in technical services and safety certifications, the client required a structure that met rigorous safety standards while providing a high-comfort, functional environment for their employees.
The Challenge
The objective was to create a versatile 100-square-meter space that could adapt to Suzhou’s varied climate. The client requested a blend of permanent shelter and open-air flexibility, requiring a seamless integration of fixed and retractable sections without compromising structural stability or aesthetics.

Design Highlights

The 8.6m width is divided into two distinct functional zones. Half of the structure remains a Fixed Sunroom, providing a permanent, weather-sealed core. The other half features a Manual Retractable Structure, allowing employees to enjoy natural ventilation and an open-sky experience at will.
2. Industrial-Grade Materials
Utilizing 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, the framework offers superior yield strength and corrosion resistance compared to standard architectural aluminum. The use of Ultra-Clear Tempered Laminated Glass ensures maximum safety and impact resistance while maintaining high light transmittance for a bright, vibrant interior.
3. All-Weather Comfort
To ensure the space remains usable year-round, the project is equipped with:
- Integrated Shading System: Reduces solar heat gain and glare during peak afternoon hours.
- Ambient Lighting: Provides a professional and relaxing atmosphere for evening use or corporate events.
The Result
